World Sleep Day

World Sleep Day

To celebrate World Sleep Day, we’re talking all things sleep. If you find yourself twisting and turning, struggling to switch off, our in house nutritionist Riya is here to give you the low down on her favourite natural ingredients to help you sleep nice and eaZZZy.

Quality is always better than quantity, wouldn’t you agree? And I think it’s especially true when it comes to sleep! It’s of course really important to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night, but getting good quality sleep (where you sleep straight through the night without waking up multiple times) is the ultimate recipe to a good night's rest. Good quality sleep makes a world of difference, especially because it helps you wake up feeling refreshed and ready to smash your to-do list!

To help you feel well rested and restored, these natural ingredients can lend you a helping hand for a better nights sleep...

Magnesium

Magnesium is also known as the relaxation mineral which helps calm both the body and mind before heading to sleep. It has natural calming effects on nerves and muscles and supports sleep by maintaining levels of the neurotransmitter GABA that promotes sleepiness.

L- Theanine

L-Theanine is an amino acid that is associated with relaxation and inner feelings of balance and zen (all essential for a good night’s sleep). It can be found in various foods but only in small quantities, so to reap the full benefits of this amino acid, supplementing can be really beneficial.

Lemon Balm

Lemon balm is a herb that’s traditionally used for its relaxation properties and helps with promoting feelings of calmness.

Chamomile

This gentle herb has been found to be useful in improving sleep quality thanks to its calming effects on the nervous system. Scientific research suggests that chamomile produces its classic calming effects due to an antioxidant it contains called apigenin. Apigenin attaches itself to specific brain receptors that boosts sleepiness.

5-HTP
5-HTP is a naturally occurring amino acid and is the precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin (the brain chemical that is linked to happy feelings). 5-HTP is also indirectly involved in producing the hormone melatonin- which plays a critical role in promoting sleepiness through regulating our sleep-wake cycle.

Our Natural Night Complex is perfect for a nourishing nights sleep. The formula is designed to help you fall asleep easier thanks to a blissful blend of all-natural sleep aids including Magnesium, Chamomile, L-Theanine, 5-HTP and Lemon Balm to help you relax and drift off to a deeper restorative sleep.
