Organic Matcha Tea

Whether your go-to beverage is a matcha latte or you haven't yet tried matcha green tea, it’s certainly likely that you’ve heard all the buzz surrounding this ancient Japanese green tea! Thanks to its impressive nutritional profile, matcha (pronounced ma-cha) is most commonly recognised for its ability to boost brain power, energy levels, and promote relaxation- this takes tea to a whole new level!

Here at Nutravita, we love matcha tea and all the nutritional benefits that it offers, so we’re really excited to introduce a brand new matcha tea supplement to our Nutravita range. Our organically grown Japanese matcha tea is made using entire tea leaves shaded from sunlight to increase the leaves’ chlorophyll and the amino acid L-theanine’s content. After harvesting, the leaves are then ground into a fine powder and encapsulated for your convenience. We’ve also added organic turmeric and organic black pepper to help maximise the benefits that matcha green tea has to offer.

So what are the benefits of Matcha tea exactly?

Matcha is packed with antioxidants. In fact, when comparing antioxidant values between different foods, matcha ranks as one of the highest on the ORAC scale (oxygen radical absorbance capacity- a measure of antioxidant capacity) and surpasses all other antioxidant-rich foods such as dark chocolate and blueberries! Matcha is particularly high in polyphenol compounds and the most important polyphenol found in the tea is known as Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCg)- it’s regarded as a potent antioxidant. EGCg is thought to help boost the immune system, boost metabolism thereby supporting weight loss, help destroy toxic free radicals, and may even help prevent collagen breakdown in the body which can lead to healthier skin.

Matcha is naturally rich in caffeine and the amino acid L-Theanine. L-theanine has been hailed for promoting a state of calmness by relaxing the brain, blood vessels, and muscles. L-theanine can also stimulate alpha wave activity in the brain and this increase in alpha wave activity leads to a perfect balance of calmness and alertness (thanks to the natural caffeine content) making matcha an ideal pick-me-up for the afternoon!

The vibrant green colour of matcha comes from the pigment
chlorophyll which has been found to benefit the immune system, help clear skin, and tackle inflammation in the joints.

You can also find a range of vitamins in matcha including vitamins A, C, E, K as well as trace minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, chromium, and zinc which adds to its impressive nutrient profile!
